Sit back, relax and let the game play itself Honkai Star Rail’s combat system differs greatly from Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd. Unlike these two, where you fight in the overworld in real-time, HSR has a traditional turn-based system with skills reminiscent of both games. However, with turn-based combat comes a fun little feature that can make or break an experience auto-battling! If you would like to learn more, continue reading to discover how to turn on auto-battling in Honkai Star Rail. How to Turn on Auto Battle in Honkai Star Rail To briefly summarize auto-battling, it’s a feature in turn-based combat systems that lets your characters automatically attack and activate abilities. While their moves aren’t always optimal for specific situations, it’s a nice way to sit back and relax if you’re struggling with a fight or just want to focus on something else and let the game play itself for a bit. You can even spend some time looking into the lore of March 7th’s name if you want. During Honkai Star Rail’s first Simulated Universe storyline quest, you’ll learn how to initiate auto-battling through a brief tutorial detailing the following In the top corner of your combat screen, you’ll see three buttons fast forward, auto-battle and pause. Click the button with two arrows pointing toward each other to start auto-battling. To deactivate it and manually select skills again, press this button again. Related Does Honkai Star Rail Have Controller Support on Mobile? – Answered By activating auto-battle, your character will automatically use their basic attacks, skills and ultimates without you having to do anything. However, if you don’t like this system, you can always keep it off and do everything manually. In my experiences with using this, it’s a decent system that made some helpful decisions I otherwise wouldn’t have considered. Image via Hoyoverse Honkai Star Rail is a gacha game from Genshin Impact creator HoYoverse. Unlike Genshin Impact, HSR has a turn-based combat system with weakness exploitation reminiscent of Shin Megami Tensei or Persona games. Like with most turn-based games, there’s also an auto-battle feature for more menial fights when you need to turn your brain off and just grind instead. However, you don’t unlock the auto-battle feature immediately. Here’s how to unlock and then turn on auto-battle in Honkai Star Rail. Related Honkai Star Rail – All Active Free Codes & How to Redeem Them Auto-battle and speed-up battle, for that matter are not features you have immediate access to. You’ll unlock these features after completing Herta’s first Simulated World, a tutorial sequence for the game’s weekly roguelike mission. For now, get through that Simulated World tutorial, and you’ll have access to auto-battle and speed-up battles to make your fights easier to swallow. After unlocking auto-battle in Honkai Star Rail, enter a fight. From here, look at the top-right of your screen. You’ll see numerous battle options available for you to test out. Related Does Honkai Star Rail Have a Multiplayer Mode? Answered Screenshot by Gamepur Starting from right to left, the rightmost button is a pause button. Naturally, this will stop the battle in Honkai Star Rail, and will give you the option to retreat if you need to. It will also list your current objective for the fight and any potential HSR drops. You can also adjust battle settings here as well, such as keybinds and the like. The middle button is your auto-battle button. This will turn on auto-battle and progress the battle automatically for you, meaning you won’t have to input any of your own attacks or skills. This button will use up any skill points and Ultimate charge that you have available, so don’t use this feature if you need to carefully plan out your attacks. Finally, the leftmost button speeds up your battle to about twice the normal speed. This will make your Honkai Star Rail battles faster, but you won’t exactly be able to appreciate some of the animations of your characters this way. For story-based boss battles, these features will turn off automatically, but you can turn them back on during the fight. Auto-battling is generally only useful for fights where you know you’ll reign victorious, as they can be inefficient with your Honkai Star Rail skill points and Ultimates. Be sure to only use auto-battles in grindy HSR fights, such as when you challenge a Calyx.

Screenshot by PC Invasion You’ll fight in a lot of battles as you advance through the Honkai Star Rail campaign. Sometimes, your enemies will be weak enough that everything feels quite rote. You might wish you could just activate an auto-battle mode to speed things up a little. Fortunately, the game’s developers anticipated that need. Here is our guide on how to turn on auto-battle in Honkai Star Rail. Note We’ll have a Honkai Star Rail guides and features hub soon, so stay tuned. You won’t be able to activate auto-battle when you first start playing the game. Diving through the various menus will get you nowhere. That’s because the mode only becomes available once you advance far enough within the campaign. To turn on auto-battle in Honkai Star Rail, you must first clear the Simulated Universe First Closed Beta mission. This is a Trailblaze mission. As the plot progresses, it will naturally lead you to the mission. Screenshot by PC Invasion The Simulated Universe First Closed Beta mission becomes available shortly after you finally meet Herta. That meeting happens just after the first big boss battle. You will talk to her a few times and then join her in her office, where she makes a portal available to the Simulated Universe. Inside that universe, you can toggle auto-battle on and off even in the middle of a battle. Your party members will burn through skills quickly, but this can also improve the pace of combat substantially. Even after you gain access to auto-battle, you won’t be able to use it on every mission. As you complete a lot of Trailblaze and story missions, you’ll typically have to issue orders yourself. However, you can use auto-battle on simpler missions where you might be grinding for resources, which is a welcome convenience. Honkai Star Rail is available via its official website.
